Summary
And maybe that’s what they’re running from. Those ghosts. That minefield. The suffocating pressure to live up to who they used to be when who they used to be has now become stale, recycled words in textbooks and museums and clickbait online articles. Captain America and Bucky Barnes may be American heroes, relics of a time when patriotism ran deep and values were wholesome, but they are also people who lived and breathed and died to live and breathe again.
They fuck off to the coast, trying to put as many miles between them and D.C. as possible. New York is loud and claustrophobic at the best of times, but California has the open skies and roads that make Steve ease a little more into his skin.

Steve can see Bucky is slumped against the doorframe and disheveled, long hair hanging in front of his face. He’s hunched over his metal arm where he’s holding it awkwardly against his chest.
“Hey Stevie. I’m havin’ a bit of a rough time.”
Featuring one Bucky Barnes who is finally home, is sometimes a very large cat, and who has one Steve Rogers wrapped around his paw and ready to spoil Bucky to pieces.

Summary
His Brother was the Prince of Dragonstone, his brother was supposed to be the King. Jon's life was supposed to be simpler. Marry an appropriate woman, have children he could name Prince and Princess, and live a quiet life with them in between carrying out royal duties for his father and brother.
Aegon became King, as is his duty. Jon supports him, as is his.
Only tragedy was supposed to upset this balance.
This is not a tragedy, but to Jon and the life he wanted, it certainly feels like it.
Basically a Westeros AU of the real life abdication of the British King Edward VII in favor of his brother George VI in 1936.
