'My Dear Ranpo, I hope these sweets are to your liking, I am to be traveling to Yokohama very soon, and when I do, I wish to challenge you to a battle of intellect, so until then take care of yourself, and prepare my darling.'
There was a note included in every package, all of them saying something similar to the first one.
