It hurts. It just... fucking hurts. Slowly, laboriously, they try to drag their body, the remnants of it, as far as they can. And at the same time as carefully as they can; lest what remains of them falls apart, too. Like their ear. Like their arm. Just like everything they´ve ever held dear.

From the Earth– Another flare of pain shot through their system, threatening to throw them over the edge and for a split second Ashton thinks that´s it; they´d finally outstayed their welcome to this hellhole of a world, one that has done nothing but serve him loss and misery and contempt on a nice, filigree silver platter. And fuck, for all its daintiness that shit piece packed a fucking punch.

Essek had never cared about anyone in his over a century of life - at least that's what he thought until he realized just how much he cared about the new friends he'd found in the Mighty Nein, right as he was losing them.
