Matt did not know how to feel. He knows *how* he feels, he just hasn't decided if it's how he wants to or should feel.
Coming into his junior year of high school a whole 5 weeks late, unplanned mind you, wasn't exactly the issue. Finding out that rumors about him being queer also was not a surprise or the issue. Nor was it having to deal with his monthly mood swings, cramps, and other unpleasantries, on his first day back no less. No, not even that was the issue. The 'issue' was staring back at him, making him wish he could go back to his uncles farm for the rest of his life. The 'issue', was a singular message, a singular sentence, a singular word- a name.The Three Musty Queers:

Maybe it was when, despite everything over the years, Dib tried to cheer Zim up after Zim appeared again from his hiatus. Maybe even earlier, when Zim would call off his schemes when they became just a little too near to being achieved. Maybe it was since he fought the planet jackers in pretense name of the armada. Maybe being paired with GIR was more than "being special". Even still there's a chance it began festering as the years of him alienated by his much more vertically statured peers. Or even on the day of his hatching, being ruthlessly teased years after for having imprinted incorrectly onto the Irken mother computer. Whenever it was, whenever this began, Zim was reaping it's consequences head on. After all, it was against Irken blood and programming to ever back down, and if one thing, even just once in his life, he was defending his loyalties, no matter what the Tallest standing before him cared to do or say.
