She received a letter, smudged and worn from a long journey through the Legion bureaucracy. Smudged, wrinkled, and worn; but sealed, pristine on the inside written in a hand she did not recognize.
'Dad died. I will be visiting Skyrim, give you some of Mom's things. Maybe catch up. Meet me in Helgen, end of Rain's hand.
-Valewyl'That's all the letter said. It was the first letter she'd received from her niece since Vale had been a young child, sending short letters in a broad unpracticed hand with charcoal drawings of horses. That had been during The Great War. Her sister had been alive then.
Now, Valewyl was the only family she had left. So, she will go to Helgen, and she will wait, and when she can’t wait any longer… then Cait would go looking for her. She will find her. Cait isn't going to miss her for the world. Isn't going to lose her too.
But something else finds them first. And Cait Orrean finds she has so much more to hold on to that she thought.
