Summary
For supposedly being one of the finest Knowers in decades, Tally often felt like she knew very little.
She didn't know how to process the dreams that kept her up at night since becoming un-biddied. Mothertongue, that was tough. Handling Raelle and Abigail's teasing about her life choices, that could be a lot.
And mostly, she definitely didn't have a clue how to handle having a debilitating attraction and world-class crush on the most powerful woman on the literal planet, who definitely would never feel the same way.
Anyway. It was fine. It was all just fine.
Or,
Tally's nightmares never stop; in fact, they become a form of emotional torture that keeps her up at night. Alder, in a twist, agrees to help Tally through late-night meetings, and Tally is faced with an entirely different kind of emotional torture.

The woman looks the same as she did years ago, though the freezing hatred in her gaze has been replaced with hard-edged practicality. She knows the expression well: the look of a businesswoman prepared to close an unsavoury deal.
