Summary
The rational part of Yuuji’s brain is screaming at him to recognize that he’s just being dramatic, that there’s no possible way Megumi could have died randomly on a Friday evening in November, but the twisted, uncertain part of his brain is just repeating the statement over and over.
Megumi could be dead.

The symmetrical petrification marks that had once marred the man’s feminine features had retreated, a ghost of what they once were. For the first time in a while, the scientist wished he had taken off his gloves, the metal claws and white fabric a self imposed barrier as it traced the strong line of the soldier’s jaw. Xeno had long since memorized the man’s features, his mind offering up those detailed blueprints every time the scientist closed his eyes.
