Once upon a time, when she'd been but a young girl, a skinny beanpole of a thing with arms and legs too long for the rest of her, she'd made the mistake of wandering into a fairy ring. Too young to know better and too curious to care, she'd gone into the woods for a bit of fun.
When she'd skipped out of the forest three days later, her hair – four shades darker than the strawberry blonde she'd had going in – plaited with all manner of vines and bright blossoms, they had been horrified. She couldn't understand why; the flowers were more beautiful than anything she'd ever seen growing in the woods.
