As far as Lester Papadopoulos knows, he is a regular unclaimed demigod, and has no reason to believe otherwise. Since he lost his memory, he was taken in by the Jackson family and soon brought to Camp Half Blood, where Percy tries to educate him on demigodness as much as he possibly can. But Lester fails at basically everything, knowing very little about how even basic human behavior works. And with random flashes of scenes in his mind, unpredictable surges of power, and apparently a god just trying to chill in his brain and guide him, Lester’s realizing he may be much more than he knows.

As he scrambled out of the dumpster, he prepared to say something dramatic, like, “I am Apollo. You mortals have three choices- offer me tribute, flee, or be destroyed,” or “Mortals! My blessings be upon you this fine morning. Know that, for your kindness, your names will be echoed through the voices of history! Prepare to earn your glory.”
But when he opened up his voice to speak… he made no sound.
No matter how hard he tried, the only noise he managed was a kind of horrible rasping, wheezing sound.
He clutched his throat, wide-eyed and horrified, but the fingers weren’t his own- his throat wasn’t his own.
The body wasn’t his.
This silence wasn’t his.

Summary
Apollo had not expected to once again be faced with the punishment of mortality so soon after his trials.
Having angered his father once more, Apollo finds himself mortal again and made to attend the hero course at UA, far from any semblance of home.
After all that had changed with his trials, a spiraling Apollo doesn't see how he could ever be a hero, even as he learns how to be a pro alongside his classmates. In the aftermath of his trials, he no longer feels like he knows what path to follow now that he no longer has the assurance of immortality and the mask of narcissism to fall back upon. He's been thrown away, lost with no hand to guide him.
