Kris and Susie are best friends. In the span of a single day, the two had become inseparable. Kris had saved Susie's life, and Susie had saved Kris's. Summary
Noelle and Kris weren't the same as they used to be. It was easier to think it was just Kris getting sullen, harder to talk to, more withdrawn. It was easier to think that it was just growing up: that childhood friends aren’t meant to last. A crown of flowers and grubby hands clasped together wasn't the same as a wedding ring.
Until Susie came into their life, she could even believe it was true.
