Clarke is 17 when she meets the man she’s going to marry.

When Cillian had asked her the question a month ago, she’d oddly thought of this weekend. Of coming to campus with him, sleeping in a twin bed with his ring on her finger. And she’d said No, thank you.
He’d been nice, and he loved her. It hadn’t felt like a good enough reason.
Clarke’s hands itched to pick up her phone, to text Murphy, but she didn’t. She typed out the words in her head—Is he coming—and deleted them.
He would, or he wouldn’t. And that was okay.
