    Shauna is talking to Jackie in the meat shed again. The snow outside falls thick and heavy, getting more and more intense as the hours pass by. Its not until she looks at her hands, shaking and blue, holding the handle of the knife so tightly it hurts, the tip of her fingers turning into a light grey purple, that she realises how cold she is. She's freezing while cutting the last of the bear meat they had. She's dying, she thinks, just as Jackie did a few months ago and she wellcomes it, wants it to happen. She thinks that maybe the poetic justice will provide her some sense of relief. Or maybe it would come from the belief that in the afterlife, whatever that'd be, she could meet Jackie again.
