He is surprised to be alive. He cannot remember why he should be surprised, but he is all the same. His body hurts. Like it did after Nightless City. Like it did the first time he crawled out of the Burial Mounds. Like it did when he was thrown into the Burial Mounds and hit the unforgiving ground, bones cracked, organs punctured, heart broken.
Something rustles near him, but he is unable to turn and look. He cannot move or feel his limbs, but there is still a deep, throbbing, hurt that permeates his very being. And all he can think is I am so tired. I am so very tired.

Will taking Lan Wangji to the Burial Mounds with Wei Wuxian save the remaining Wens, or will it only hasten their demise?

Summary
If anyone asked Wei Ying to pinpoint where, exactly, things shifted, he wouldn’t be able to give a satisfying answer.
High school was easy. High school, despite its rigid schedule and arbitrary rules that drove him insane, brought structure.
University is a lot more work.
He’s willing to put in the effort, he tries, but it just. . .doesn’t work. At least it hasn’t worked yet.
Most of his classmates, he’s heard them talking about their schedule, their routine. Some prefer a strict one, some function better when it’s looser, but Wei Ying has tried both and found balance in neither. He’s tried, he tries, honest to god, but the moment where it just clicks and the gears run smoothly? Hasn’t happened. Won’t happen, probably, not for him.
He tries not to think about the rest of his life post-university.Despite excelling in every way during high school, Wei Ying finds himself struggling to overcome the difficulties university brings. Constantly exhausted and numb, he really doubts his life is going to get better any time soon. But when he stumbles across Lan Zhan, years after they parted on bad terms, he finds out that might not be true, after all.

Summary
Wei Wuxian left after realizing that love alone isn't enough, that love walks hand in hand with pain. He had been naive for thinking that he could have the love that his parents had, so he walks away and attempts to forget. Lan Wangji is the name behind the love that Wei Wuxian wishes to let go. This love, he realizes, is foolish and relentless much like him. Staying when he is unwanted, making his presence known even though it is unwelcome.
But then, what is fate if not cruel? Because seven years later, Lan Wangji appears before him, and Wei Wuxian realizes that he is a man of many skills and talents, but apparently, forgetting Lan Wangji isn't one of them.
