“Riza,” Roy breathed, tilting her head back to face him. “Don’t hide from me.”
“I just–” Riza frowned and shook her head, as if unable to find the words she needed. “This isn’t real. I want it to be real, but it never will be. And we don’t deserve it to be. But I’m selfish, and I want it. I want it more than anything.” Her voice trembled, but she did not cry.
Roy’s heart ached. He wanted to tell her that it could be real, that they did deserve it, but he loved her too much to ever tell her a lie.
