Summary
“Put that out, Montagu.” He gestures towards the cigarette. Monty instead takes a defiant drag and blows the smoke vaguely in Bevan’s direction, Bevan’s blood boils. “Montagu, I said, put that out. That’s an order.” He says, putting force behind his words and looking Monty straight in the eyes. Monty pauses, straightens, and puts out his cigarette. Something stirs in both of their abdomens. The air grows thicker, Monty's breathing grows quicker. He’s got his attention now, as he pushes the ashtray further back and out of the way on the desk and leans forward with his hands on either side of Monty on the desk.
