Summary

Dean Winchester is a caught and convicted serial killer, living out his last few months on death row. When he's granted the last interview, Castiel starts to wonder if Dean really is the monster the media and courts painted him as. He puts him on edge, sure. What person exists in this world that is completely comfortable with that honey-sweet smile directed at them? But the more Castiel starts to investigate, the more things start to seem... odd.

Summary
**ABANDONED**When Mary Winchester passed away, Dean had to grow up fast. It was up to him to take care of his little brother and ensure that they had a roof over their heads and food to eat. With John two sheets to the wind and mumbling bigotry left and right, Dean tamps down his innermost desires for soft, pretty things, and exchanges them instead for retail hell and aprons.
Castiel's wife and unborn child were taken from him too soon in a tragic accident. In his wife's memory he opened up an LGBT+ friendly bar/restaurant and does his best to offer comfort for those who can't find it elsewhere. He doesn't think about his troubled past too often, choosing to instead focus on the present and enjoy what's happening in the here and now.
When their paths cross, things seem simple enough: Dean needs a job, and Castiel can offer him one. But when things take a turn and leave them both open and vulnerable, their tenuous friendship takes root and starts to grow with the beauty of a flower in the sun. Their friendship is liberating as they heal old wounds together, but is there a chance that something more is growing between them? A coming of age story, for the old and the young.
