“If one singular photo of this gets to our students you’re both dead.” Shouta muttered just barely loud enough for Nedzu’s bullshit fancy comms system to pick up. “Zashi, you may still be dead.”

“I’m more than willing to take that risk babe.” His traitor husband snickered from the other end of the line, almost drowned out by Nemuri losing her absolute mind. “Worth it. One thousand percent. Also your ass looks great.”

“Flattery won’t save you now. We’re here for a reason. Focus.”

Just because Shouta wasn’t technically on the clock didn’t mean he wasn’t still working- for better or worse he couldn’t turn the ‘hero’ off no matter how much he sometimes wanted to. That’s why he was in one of Musutafu’s shittiest malls in the middle of a Saturday when he could be napping with the cats or catching up on the pile of assignments angrily waiting for him on his desk.

At least the place was practically dead despite it being the busiest part of the day. The chances someone saw him dressed in the worst possible disguise Nemuri was physically capable of finding on short notice- little old lady. He was a six foot even grown man with a five oclock shadow.

    Summary

The old legends about humans taking selkies captive by stealing their skins was accurate- they couldn’t return to the sea without their pelts. That made it good news that Hizashi had his pelt back, he wasn’t being held captive accidentally or otherwise.

The bad news was that selkies traditionally exchanged pelts as a marriage tradition. They gave them back, of course, or they’d both be trapped above the water, but what was important was touching each other and the pelts at the same time. It was old magic and Hizashi wasn’t exactly sure how it worked, but it joined the two together for life in a far more concrete way than simple human marriage certificates ever could.

“Hizashi?” Concern colored Nemuri’s voice as she peered at him over her glasses (their eyesight was one of the last things to adjust to being fully on land- they were both wearing cheap drug store reading glasses). “What happened? He didn’t-”

Hizashi nodded, cutting her question off. He very much had.

“Shit.” Nem breathed out, eyes wide. “You might be fucked.” A wild voice deep in Hizashi’s subconscious almost had him responding that that was the best case scenario.

    Summary

“Sho, you left the window open again.” He called as he shamelessly dropped every easily removable piece of his costume in the genkan. “You okay? Rough patrol?”

“Could’ve been worse.” Shouta said like he didn’t have the top half of his jumpsuit wasn’t undone and around his hips, his shirt wasn’t half falling off one of the kitchen chairs, and he wasn’t putting butterfly bandages over a slice in his side that may or may not actually need stitches by the light of the lamp over the kitchen sink. He glanced up long enough to check that Hizashi wasn’t injured and got back to it. “What about you?”

“Could’ve been worse.” Hizashi huffed, trying not to laugh at the absolutely normal absurdity of the situation.

    Summary

Was Nedzu far too amused by their predicament for Shouta and Hizashi’s liking? Absolutely. Was he ever going to let them forget this? Probably not. Was it worth it bringing their transformations to his attention so he could track down Hawk’s home address and Izuku for them? One. Hundred. Percent.

He even helped them break in by deactivating the winged hero’s security system, though Shouta would maintain he could’ve broken in on his own. He’d also maintain that they didn’t have any choice but to break in- Nedzu was the only one who could do proper human speech and he wasn’t making any effort to just, you know, call Hawks and explain things. It was the rat’s fault Hizashi was now quietly woofing at Izuku through the bars of his (admittedly rather cushy based on what he knew, at least Hawks was taking proper care of him) cage.

It was also the rat’s fault Shouta almost gave a promising young hero a heart attack when he jumped on the guy’s bed and glared.
