ETA: As some of you may have noticed, I've changed the rating from M to E. I just can't help it. There's some spicy stuff coming (something the book was sorely lacking in) and I wanted it to be just wee bit spicier than what I consider M to be (though I know such things are usually subjective).

Jaskier got betrayed. He shouldn't have trusted Radovid. How was he supposed to tell Geralt he lost his daughter because he believed he could be loved? How was he going to say that he was a complete utter fool who thought someone was in love with him and trusted the Prince of Redania and he got betrayed?

It took him two years to realise that he was hopelessly in love with Geralt. And within a few months he decided to try his luck with the witcher, but he knew that he had to be careful with his advances, that he had to be cautious and cunning so as not to scare him away. He wanted to win Geralt's heart and the first steps were to make sure that he could really win, if not the love, then at least the affection of the witcher.
Imagine what it's like to almost have someone and have them ripped away from you after a stupid wish. It took him eight years to hold Geralt's hand while walking, it took him ten years to kiss him, but in spite of his unmeasurable efforts he could not achieve what Yennefer did in one day.
