Summary
Regardless of how many times his father berates his behavior, JD never seems to listen. He swears he's doing the best he can with the cards he's been dealt, but it's never enough.
With no amount of verbal abuse doing the trick, it seems like Bud Dean has no choice but to resort to a harsher form of discipline to get his son in line.
This only complicates matters. More than just adding to his growing collection of trauma, this new and primal punishment bleeds over into other parts of JD's fractured psyche – namely into his repressed sexual interests.

Summary
Bud Dean takes JD out into the woods for an afternoon of healthy father-son bonding time. It's JD's thirteenth birthday, and his gift this year is a shiny new pistol and some shooting lessons along with it.
But after a few beers each, the both of them begin to forget their decorum. As their argument heats up, something unexpected becomes clear: their power dynamic is no longer bound to same hierarchy it used to be.
