Suigetsu, who had just refilled his drink, chose this exact moment to insert himself into the scene. He leaned toward Sasuke, propping his elbow on the kitchen counter with all the grace of a man thoroughly enjoying someone else’s misery.
“You do realise he’s just going to keep stealing if you don’t physically restrain him, right?”
Sasuke shot him and his newly filled cup a deeply distrustful glare. “I could physically restrain you.”
Suigetsu grinned, taking a long swig of his drink. “Kinky.”

In which Kakashi found Suigetsu and Naruto competing over Sasuke’s attention instead of Sakura and Karin as he once thought it would be—and surprisingly, that was much more entertaining.

Itachi had avoided looking into the abyss for so long that now, just a glance was enough to pull him downward, plunging headfirst into its depths, hopelessly getting deeper and deeper, and finally swallowed by the eternal void.
And yet, the six-pointed star Mangekyou with its unsettlingly unusual inverted colours remained burned into his mind, lingering at the edges of his consciousness. Along with it came the echoes of pained whispers, phantom voices that clawed at his heartstrings, tightening until they threatened to snap.
Itachi wanted to make up for all the years irrevocably lost between them, but deep down, he was scared that no matter what he tried to do, it would never be enough.
He didn’t even have the courage to take the first step.
But Itachi wasn’t the only one struggling to bridge the gap.

Naruto let the camera hovered close as he mused out loud. He was focusing on something he just spotted on the ground: a cluster of small, brown mushrooms sprouting from the base of a rotting log.
“All mushrooms are edible. Some are just once if you’re bravely dumb enough, though.”
A voice cut through the stillness, smooth as a blade dipped in honey, rich with a baritone warmth that rippled down Naruto’s spine. His head snapped toward the sound, a retort dying on his tongue as his breath hitched.
Standing a few meters away, framed by the gnarled arms of the trees around, was a man who looked like he’d stepped out of a vivid fever dream.

Panic flared, but Sasuke shoved it down, channeling it into focus. He struggled helplessly against the binding, but it was hard when hands grabbed at his ankles and wrists, dragging him over and pinning him down. Fingers probed in his mouth, forcing him to part his lips, leaving bruises along his jaw lines and throat. Knees pushed his legs apart, demanding them to stay open.
Gosh, this really shouldn’t be the time for Sasuke to miss the gentle touches from his former teacher Kakashi or his old teammates, Naruto and Sakura. Kakashi’s hands, rough even after a layer of thin gloves, only gave him fleeting touches such as a pat on his shoulder or a ruffle of his hair, quiet but caring. Sakura, small and soft hands gingerly tended to his injuries, all careful and soothing. Naruto was rougher and more casual but never hurting: an arm carelessly threw around his shoulders to pull him close, a fist bump after a successful mission, a playful slap on his back when he wasn’t paying attention—
