Summary
Going to therapy has been more beneficial for Peter than he initially anticipated. At first, his therapist mostly focused on helping him communicate in a healthy way with his parents so he could better express his emotions. Ever since his aunt died, Peter had gotten used to holding everything in. And when it all got to be much, he would let it out by using an unhealthy coping mechanism—like cutting. But now, he doesn't really feel the urge to cut as often because he talks about how he feels.
Now that he's learned how to do that, he's been working on processing his trauma. If he's being honest, despite the fact that therapy has overall been beneficial for him, processing his trauma has been a lot harder than he expected. Processing trauma has felt like he's been slowly opening an old wound that never healed properly. It's good for you in the long run, but it hurts in the moment.

Peter's begins his journey towards recovery until someone gets in the way.

Peter’s eyebrows shot to the sky. “You’ll- how? I don’t even-“
“Your suit. It’ll have everything.”
“Tony you don’t even know how old this kid is,” Steve argued.
“Rogers look at him!” Tony nearly shouted. “He’s gonna get himself killed fighting crime in that thing,” he gestured at Peter and he ever-so-slightly flinched.
He wished he missed the crease in Tony’s brow that told him he noticed.
