Summary
Sokka regularly has great ideas, and he knows that intentionally falling behind on Fire Prince Zuko's ship to "throw him off Aang's trail" is not one of them.
He goes with it anyway, and finds himself to not be the trickster he thought he was. Instead, he’s immersed deeper into the daily routines aboard the vessel. While the pursuit of Aang and Katara continues, Sokka struggles to maintain his grip on his metaphorical shield and sword against the Fire Nation soldiers around him, as each day finds him more included.
Worst, is the Fire Prince himself, who easily bested him in his village, and who makes it clear immediately that he will hunt down the Avatar whether Sokka is aboard or not.
But the longer Zuko hosts him, the more Sokka stumbles, and stumbles against *him*, and the more he finds his closest convictions challenged.

Summary
It goes on like that for awhile. It’s wholly unprofessional; it’s the wildest and horniest summer you can ever remember having. You’ve gone well past the realm of plausible deniability into the realm of filth. Of inappropriate workplace behaviors. Of things you should absolutely not be doing with your partner. Harry’s defense is that he can’t remember his workplace sensitivity training. Your defense is that, apparently, you’ve lost your mind.
Still, he calls you. Sometimes, you call him, like the night after the day he had pranced around all of Central Jamrock in that tacky mesh shirt and the tightest disco pants you had ever seen him wear, and you tell him exactly what you thought of that while he whines and begs.
It’s like you’re living two lives. One life starts after 23:00, when the phone rings. You don’t talk about it in your real life. In your non-telephone life.5/7/2025 - now with amazing artwork by harvestkitty!
