Summary
Jackie stares at the journal and debates whether she should read it. Eventually the curiosity and mild concern gets the better of her and she stands so that she can read the words in the journal without moving it.
As Jackie reads her curiosity morphs into shock. What the actual fuck? Shauna slept with Jeff? How could she do that to me? Jackie keeps reading and learns about Brown and the resentment that Shauna feels towards her. By the time she hears Shauna talking to her mom downstairs she’s fully sobbing.

“You guys haven't even asked what it is yet!”
Van closes her locker and stands next to Taissa, opposite Jackie and Shauna's communal bench. “Let’s hear it Cap.”
Jackie looks around, giddy with excitement. She clasps her hands and takes a deep breath before, “Kissing booth!” Her grin is wide, bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet.
Half the room is appalled, the other half intrigued. A few completely disregard Jackie’s idea, and go back to getting changed. Shauna can tell this is Jackie’s favorite idea yet.
It’s Shauna's nightmare.

Months and numbers stop mattering when you’re surrounded by indeterminate miles of pure, utter nothingness, so this month and number don’t matter to her one bit. Not anymore. She’s expired. She’s gone.
