It was always pain, with Victor. Angie was bubbles and shields and a heat so all-encompassing he felt as if he knew how it felt to stand next to the sun.

It was raining the day Pili was killed too.

He remembers every detail, the pelting of rain on his back, the pained breathing of the man he held in his arms.
