Summary
Lan Shizui is haunted by shadows and ghosts unnamed for he never forgot a time when fear was whispered and time borrowed. He might be a Lan, by name and education if not by blood, but before that he was a Wen. He knew fear and death like few others, for both were unwanted companions that never seemed to leave him. Adults might not believe him, but he was there at the end, he was the only survivor, the only one who saw them.
The shadows took Wei Wuxian away, never to be seen again but they are not satisfied for he was there when the Yilling Laozu disappeared, and now the shadows want him too.

Summary
The two shadow men dragging Jin Rulan toss him to the floor of the cell and he immediately sits up, spitting and furious and drags the gag from his mouth with his own bound hands.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing!? Do you know who I am!? Just you wait till my uncles hear about this!!”
“Oh I’m sure they’ll be just heart broken.” The man in black steps forward into the doorway of the cell and one of the shadow men steps forward to place a stool behind him so that he can settle, grinning, onto it. “Unfortunately if you want them to find out anything you’re going to need a tongue for talking or fingers for writing, and well…” The man flips his knife casually from one hand to the other, “You won’t be leaving here with either one.”
OR the Mo manor arc gets fucked up when Mo Xuanyu and the Lan juniors get abducted and it causes Wei Wuxian's return to go VERY differently.

Summary
Wei Wuxian gets caught sneaking into Cloud Recesses.
But since he can't tell the truth - that he's just here to deliver his teacher's most recent love letter to her soulmate who's stuck in a cave - he tells a lie instead. He says that he's a Jiang disciple that had arrived late and so had snuck in through the gates. He hadn't expected the lie to work, sure that it would unravel as soon as they found a Jiang to verify it, but instead Jiang Yanli backs up his story, and even adds to it.
Which is how he ends up masquerading as the first disciple of Lotus Pier while trying to figure out how to get out of Cloud Recesses without anyone discovering that he's the disciple of Baoshan Sanren.
