“Did you drive here?” Shauna asks. This feels promising, not quite so bitter and shameful as last time. Jackie doesn’t give two shits about Lottie besides being jealous that a girl three months younger than her drives a Sapphire Pearl Lexus. If Lottie decides to follow Shauna to whatever dark corner she needs in order to earn her favor, then this isn’t leverage or revenge, it’s just her. Just Shauna giving herself to someone—selling herself and bartering away what little she has in order to eke out even a speck of what Jackie receives in droves.
“Yeah but I’m not really good to hop on the freeway right now.” Lottie laughs but she looks a little unnerved that Shauna ‘buckle in’ Shipman would suggest driving under the influence.
“That’s okay.” Shauna says. “I don’t want to go far.”
