They defeated the closest thing there is to God together, dammit. All the possible stakes were on the table then. But it is now, under the pale morning sun, that seeing blood dripping from Akutagawa's nose scares him. His cheekbone is already swollen, his jaw stained green and purple, and Atsushi wishes his own wounds could last half as long as Akutagawa's so maybe the guilt pooling on his stomach would subside.
Ryuunosuke clicks his tongue, annoyance coating his face. He slaps Atsushi across the face with a black tendril. It feels like a caress compared to everything he received earlier.
"Your thoughts are focused elsewhere," he drawls, "we cannot train like this."
They're not elsewhere, Atsushi thinks, they're completely consumed by you.
