    Commander, general, half-saint, the daughter of monsters, the daughter of men that hold immortality in one hand, greed in the other. Athena was a bender of all seas, a healer of all wounds, holding the symphony of life pulsing inside her ears. She was a Grisha that could never come close to her father's expectations, to his great demands. She was a girl that didn't care much for the worlds of soulmates, so outside of grasp, so magically unattainable. Wanting makes us weak, you should remember.

    What place was there for loving in time of war? What place was there for love that demanded so much, and gave so little?

    What place was there for two hands to hold onto each other, in all their callousness, with all their sharp edges?

    In short, alternative universe in which the darkling has a daughter that is much cooler than him, soulmates exist and wreck havoc on these poor characters' mental health, everything is the same, but not really and all of it hurts :))

    Elham Creed is an orphan from Keramzin, who was whisked away as a child to the Little Palace, where she attempted to learn to control her powers. She was no normal Inferni, however, and struggled learning control, so instead, she became the best swordsman the palace had ever seen. Just when things started going well for her, she learned some terrible news about the Darkling, and was told to flee.

    She escaped, managing to find herself far away in Ketterdam, where she was forced to learn to fight for her life and to fend for herself. After a while, she meets the Bastard of the Barrel, and soon joins the Dregs, later becoming Kaz Brekker's Valkyrie.

    After some time, when the Crows are formed, they're informed that a million kruge is on the line, if they can find and capture the so called Sun Summoner. As part of the Crows, Elham has to return to the Little Palace and face her past. It all unfolds in the first book of the series, following the events of Netflix's Shadow and Bone.

    Alina was not sent to Keramzin. She was sent to an orphanage in Shu Han, where Sankta Neyar and the Disciple adopted her. Having been trained by the ancient warrior and master thief, Alina has no care for helping Grisha or becoming a sun saint. All she cares about is her doting parents, and perhaps finding a love like theirs.
    But in order to secure immortality, Alina must go to Ravka and track down Morozova's stag.
