Summary
“Do you guys ever think about...what’s next?” he asked suddenly, cutting through the easy flow of conversation. The group went quiet. “What do you mean?” Yamaguchi asked after a moment, his tone cautious.
“I don’t know,” Hinata said, scratching the back of his head. “Just...like, where we’ll all be in a few years. If we’ll still talk like this. If we’ll still see each other.”
“Don’t be stupid,” Kageyama said, his voice uncharacteristically soft. “Of course we will.”
“Yeah,” Yamaguchi agreed. Hinata laughed, the sound bright and genuine. “I hope so,” he said, his voice quieter now. “I hope we all stay like this.”
Two days later, Hinata Shoyo died in a car crash. There was no warning, no second chance. The news hit his friends like a freight train. It hurts. Kageyama and Tsukishima tried to hold the tears in but they just can't. All they knew was that they had lost something irreplaceable.
P.S. Hinata will experience a brief time loop before he meets the others. This is an old workp0 of mine that has been rotting in my unfinished fanfic folder. I re-read it, saw potential in it, and I posted it. This is my first work, not really first work, but my first published fanfic. Hope you enjoy!
