The other Marauders become acquainted with her later on, all of them equally fascinated with her snarkiness, and if she acts a little too similar to a quiet Slytherin boy in their same year, well, it's easy enough to ignore.

“Do you want to hold him?” Konomi asked after Byakuya had been there maybe ten minutes.
Byakuya immediately panicked. “I’ve never held a baby before.”
“You’ll survive,” she said dryly.
Then, before he could argue further, she carefully lifted Senku from the bassinet and deposited him into Byakuya’s arms with the confidence of someone far too sleep-deprived to care about his nerves.
Byakuya froze.
Senku was absurdly small, but warm and surprisingly heavy despite it, wrapped tightly in a pale blanket patterned with tiny stars. His cheeks were round and soft, his little fists tucked stubbornly near his face. A month old and still somehow looking deeply excited to be alive already.

Summary
Every time that Senku has to deal with a situation that involves illogical human thinking, he wishes that Gen were here to help him.
It's irrational— Senku knows why Gen isn't here to help him. Gen is somewhere in America, more than eight thousand kilometers across the Pacific Ocean, still trapped in stone. And he's going to stay stone, until Senku can figure out a way to get him.
None of that stops the thought from continuously resurfacing, though.
or, sengen childhood friends au where gen is performing in america when the petrification beam hits. senku may need to get to america for practical reasons, but his underlying motivations are entirely selfish— he misses his mentalist.
