      Jiāng Yànlí dies and wakes up outside Lotus Pier fifteen years before the Massacre at Nightless City.
    2. Vain Regrets of Old Age
      Wèi Huǐlí dies of old age and ends up back in her original timeline; Wèi Wúxiàn, Wēn Qíng, Wēn Níng, and Jīn Zixuān are dead, only Jiāng Chéng and Jīn Líng left living.     "Dad, do you think they would have been proud of me?" A-Yuan asks, intertwining his fingers over his belly. The question takes the older by surprise, but he tries to conceal it. Sitting up, now he looks at his little, handsome radish of a son, who's started crying silently.

    "You mean... your ancestors?" He tries, even if it is a very dumb thing to ask, since he already knows who he is talking about. A-Yuan, always a kind boy, nods, not moving anything else but his hands, fidgeting with them as if it's going to help to calm his rattled heart.

    "Well, A-Yuan. I didn't knew them for years as I knew the Jiangs, and we didn't get to know each other deeply because of... the circustamces that surrounded us at the moment. But if there is something, you can call it a reason, that we had in common after spending barely hours together... that reason is you."

    Or, AU where Wei WuXian doesn't follow the Wen to nightless city when they go to appease the Jin's bloodlust. Instead he wakes up to the empty cave, save from A-Yuan's little hands on top of his, and the knowing sad smile of Granny Wen. So he takes both with him, and hides away for years, until he doesn't.
