How dare he come here and tell Wriothesley he knew something was eating up at him? How was he suddenly oh so knowledgeable in human emotions he could claim such a thing?
Wriothesley felt akin to, funnily enough, a kettle. Steaming and about to boil over.
“You don’t have to worry about such things.” Standing up, Wriothesley quickly made his way across the room, eager to put as much distance between himself and Neuvillette as his cramped office allowed.
“It’s not about having to, Wriothesley. I do so because I want to.”
Wriothesley’s laugh was even colder this time. “Since when have you even let yourself want, Neuvillette?”

Following the events of the beret society case, Wriothesley is plagued by thoughts of his failures, and his dreams become haunted by events he thought he had left behind by now. Amidst it all, Wriothesley finds himself drowning in a sea of crimson blood.
A concerned Neuvillette pays him a visit, determined to not let the duke suffer alone.

" Your Grace, Duke M. Wriothesley, Administrator of the Fortress of Meropide,
I hope you have been well.
The humans of Palais Mermonia have recently begun staying home, complaining of a weakness in their chests and an ache in their sinuses. In fact, the streets of Fontaine seem rife with the suffering of the mortal ill.
Sedene warned me that it would be much the same in the Fortress of Meropide, so naturally my thoughts went to you. You should stay warm and hydrated in order to best carry out your duties as administrator. The teas I have selected are ones Lady Furina calls "soothing" and I have paired them with water varieties that will bring out their flavours best.
I anticipate our next meeting; I shall come down to the Fortress of Meropide in five days time.

OR:
