Today, Linda is infected with some parasite in the most horrifying environment imaginable. Even worse, she's surrounded by a band of misfits: a magical bearded man who talks too much, an odd little Goth girl with bangs that desperately need a trim, an angry alien lady who won't quit sharpening her sword, a disturbingly pale elf who needs some bronzer, and a heroic young man with one eye.
This can't be real... can it? Surely she's having a psychotic break.

Gale looked up at him, the grief on his face replaced with a grim resignation. “Thank you. But even if there’s another way… I can’t help but feel that this might be the right way. It would atone for all the mistakes I’ve made, give my death purpose.”
Wyll shook his head, his determination only growing with every word Gale spoke. “You can’t seriously be considering doing this!”
“Of course I am,” Gale replied. “The entire world is at stake, and we have been handed the means to save it on a silver platter. I’ll not pretend I relish the idea–”
“Gale, stop,” Wyll commanded. “I won’t let you!”

“That is most assuredly not true,” he said, slowly nuzzling her cheek with his nose. “You are the most incredible person I have ever met. You are radiant, kind, courageous, and steadfast. All the stars in the sky pale in comparison to your beauty. You are the laughter in my heart and the light in my soul. Thoughts of you consume every moment. I am humbled that I get to share a life with you.”
Her pulse quickened and she whimpered as she moved her lips towards his. “There you go with your poetry again,” she said in a low voice.
He smiled as his lips gently brushed against hers. “You wish me to stop being poetic?”
“Never,” she whispered.

His smile widened. “Darling, I was so hoping you’d say that,” he said, and cupped her cheek in his hand. His eyes met hers and her breath hitched as he stroked it gently with his thumb. Gods, she was melting already, her nervousness fading into eager anticipation. He drew closer and her pulse quickened as he paused with his nose barely grazing hers. “You are bewitching,” he whispered. “I’ve missed you.”
His words may have lacked sincerity, but she didn’t care; she was already under his spell. She whimpered and leaned into him, and as his cold lips met hers her entire body felt like it was on fire from just one kiss. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her body against his, his hand roving over her ass in a way that nearly made her knees give out from under her. She dug her fingers into his shoulders, careful to avoid the scars on his back, wanting nothing more than to rip off all of their clothes and just get on with it, but first things first.

Her bright red hair fell in beautiful loose curls around her shoulders, flowing like liquid fire, and when the sunlight hit it just right it glowed like a halo around her. Her eyes, one a slightly lighter shade of green than the other thanks to Volo, sparkled when she flirted with him. No, not flirting, just kindness, he reminded himself. She was kind to everyone, and there was no way she could possibly think twice about him, touched by the infernal as he was. And anyway she deserved someone better, someone who would not be a constant source of shame while standing at her side.
He opened another mental box and somewhat unsuccessfully shoved the fluttery feeling in his chest inside it and slammed it closed. Put it away, lock it down, forget it’s there.
