"Losing everyone I've ever known was already painful to me," she blurted out. "I'll deal with this on my own, I'll protect you all with what little strength I have left, like I always do."
Akane frowned, the sight of her future self suffering like this made her heart ache, and her words only added more salt to the wound. "But who will protect you?"
Or
Akane failed to protect those that she loved, and the Tailed Beasts agreed to help her fix the past. Only, this isn't the typical "future self's consciousness landed in younger self's body". And they didn't go to the past of their timeline, and instead landed themselves in a timeline where the war hasn't happened yet, nor anything else for that matter. It's better than nothing, they decided.
And the broken shinobi found her own healing within her past. Even though her family is of a different timeline, they still won't buy her bs and want to help her tf up.

Summary
The Namikaze Clan's reputation is... Complicated, to say the least. The world somewhat acknowledged their existence, but they're rarely seen anywhere that no one would even question it if they're pronounced extinct.
Well, technically they are, after the massacre that ensued shortly after their settlement was discovered. It wasn't without reason, of course. The Namikaze Clan was said to have a special Kekkei Genkai no other clan had, and Minato Namikaze had to pay the price for such ability.

Minato has this awesome ability to see the future but he hates it, a lot. You'll see why (or if you want to know, you can check the conversation this fic is based off of). Half crack half angst because sometimes the author cannot stick to writing angst without cracking some lame joke (only sometimes, if angst is strong then maybe I can stick to it lmao-)
