Sometimes Dazai keeps the letters. Some other times, though, he crumples them until he feels the paper deteriorate because no matter what everyone thinks, even paper can wear out because of the pressure. Dazai folds it again, and again, and again— and in the end, the paper is so consumed that it rips.

Summary
Puzzled, Oda lifts the corner of his blanket up to cover Dazai and watches him curl into it with a satisfied sigh. Like this, cheek squished against the tatami, face unmarred by his usual machinations, he almost looks tame. One could even have been fooled into thinking that he doesn’t delight in causing grief for his coworkers at every turn.
At least until he wraps the blanket around himself and steals it right off of Oda’s back. All while still being asleep.
Dazai keeps breaking into Oda’s apartment to take a nap on his floor, and Oda can’t figure out why.
