“Join me,” he leers, the offer rolling off his tongue easily, hands never once stalling even under Shadow’s astonished gaze, “or don’t.” He shrugs. “Your call.”
Sonic’s hips twitch upwards as he speaks, breath hitching—an unhelpable movement—as the rolling of his shoulder and the consequent shift in the angling of his wrist, directs the water jet into ramming at a particularly good spot. He nearly buckles under the surprise onslaught. Nearly. He doesn't, however; quick to catch himself. Sonic strains to lock himself in that position, to not lose it.
With his head thrown back, he doggedly chases his high irregardless of the elephant in the room.
In other words, I just want an excuse to write them being somft™ and Shadow angrily simping for Sonic against his will…or so he’d claim lol.

"Tails," a tear slips free, "please…"
Tails looks the pinnacle of seriousness as he scribbles away at a clipboard, eyes almost cold as they survey Sonic's condition. "Sonic," he answers levelly, "I just want what's best for you. You're safest here, I promise."
And the worst thing is, he sounds like he actually believes it.
Omega Sonic on the cusp of his heat has an unfortunate run-in with an alpha.
Tails decides enough is enough.

Everyone is the protagonist of their own story. This is fact.
Sometimes the story entails a life well-lived and self-contained: something small, something sweet. Where all your problems run along the lines of figuring out what to have for dinner, where your position is among the masses—separated from the brave and the strong and the smart by the barrier they call talent and luck—clapping. This is the best scenario. You will understand when you're older.
Other times, you're the hero risking your neck, heavy with the medals looped around it like a noose, lauded for all that you do and not what or who you are.
