“No.” He starts slowly and then glares. “I don’t have a thing for buying you clothes. You started to whine about your precious shirts and ties. How else was I going to get you to shut up?”

Summary
Hoffman doesn't come back that day. Strahm turns on the news, listens to it while he makes himself dinner. There's no mention of Hoffman, or Jigsaw, or the ugliest motherfucker in Jersey turning up dead in a ditch somewhere. His grilled cheese is thoroughly burnt by the time he bites into it, and he hurls it at the wall in lieu of having another breakdown. Hoffman's sits on the plate across the table, perfectly cooked and growing cold. Strahm throws his sandwich at the wall for good measure, then follows it with the plate when he sees the greasy smudge it leaves behind.

Summary
Strahm pinches the bridge of his nose just to watch Hoffman squirm, then twists until he hears another crunching noise. Hoffman's nose is most assuredly broken, given the way it's already beginning to bruise and swell, but Hoffman stares up at Strahm with half-lidded eyes, looking like he could come from the abuse alone.

Summary
The thought of Hoffman waiting for him, exactly how Strahm had left him, made something hot curl around his guts. When he reached his floor and walked to the apartment door, he grinned to himself before entering. A muffled groan welcomed him from another room.
