Just 2 writers being absolutely ruined by the season 5 finale and the queerbait of the century so they personified themselves as a man waiting on the porch for his kids (Mike and Will) to come home.
Only when they finally come back he isn't there waiting.This was absolutely written spontaneously over text at about 11 at night, genuinely just the raw guttural reaction and pain this show has caused.
