Jesse feels drunk off endorphins and adrenaline and the way Gabriel looks down at him.
"You look like you enjoyed yourself," Reyes remarks coyly. He makes a note under Jesse's name on his clipboard, then tosses it onto the folding chair he had been stationed at. Jesse snorts.
"Kept runnin' his mouth."
Walking over to the younger man on his knees, Reyes squats down to his eye level. Then hooks a curled finger under his chin to lift, angling him this way and that. He’s manipulated so gingerly. McCree feels heat creep across his features.
"What?" Jesse hums. "'Fraid he broke my pretty face?"
It's said as a joke, though strained. This close, Reyes can hear it, how it struggles out of his throat.
“Making sure he didn’t mess up my mutt,” Reyes rumbles.

Summary
Eight months since they've all woken up from the Neo World Program, the end of the year is drawing near. So far removed from home, all Fuyuhiko's ever taken for granted for the end of December has become a statistical wonder (like decent food), or completely impossible (like snow... or celebrating with his whole family).
Being that most of his former classmates are raging from anxiously optimistic to full blown crazed on the taste of melancholy, he doesn't find it odd that all he can think about is that they don't deserve any of it.
What Fuyuhiko does find odd, is that there's one particular man he does want to celebrate with. If anyone were to ask him, he'd say Kazuichi's the reason the fucking islands haven't collapsed yet.
It's nothing short of a miracle the man himself hasn't collapsed either. Yet.
