Summary
Melissa’s own skin feels bizarre in her mouth for only a moment, until she’s marveling at how fresh it is. How alive it is, how it oozes onto her tongue, the tangy, organic notes of the flesh, hints of her own pheromones and Shauna’s, and the metallic flavor of the blood mixing together. She stayed away from meat altogether for twenty-five-some years after they were rescued, trying to give Kelly the distance she needed to keep everything she did out there buried deep, and it worked. She wasn’t having any cravings, any desires, any longing to reclaim who she once was; she loved her wife and her kid and her normal, boring life, and it worked up until Shauna fucking Shipman clawed her way back into her life with familiar blue-burning rage in her eyes and a knife in her hand, again.
