Summary
Maintaining a neutral expression was the easiest part, Kuroko told himself. He had been doing it for so long that it came as naturally to him as breathing. Speaking, however, was not wise, not with that strange feeling of tightness in his throat that threatened to break his voice in a deplorably pathetic way. He forced himself to inhale as much oxygen as possible, to exhale slowly, and regain complete control over his emotions.
It was one of those scorching summer days where you could see the heat rising from the asphalt, and yet all he could feel at that moment, after Kagami's explanation about the call he had just received from Alex, was an intense chill that seemed to want to penetrate him to the bone and beyond, leaving no room for anything else.

Mantenere la propria espressione neutra era la parte più semplice, si disse Kuroko, lo faceva da così tanto tempo che ormai gli era naturale tanto quanto respirare.
Parlare, tuttavia, non era prudente, non con quella strana sensazione di oppressione che sentiva alla gola e che rischiava di spezzarli la voce in modo deplorevolmente patetico.
Si sforzò di inalare quanto più ossigeno possibile, per espirare lentamente e riprendere completamente le redini delle proprie emozioni.
Era una di quelle giornate estive tanto torride che si poteva vedere ad occhio nudo il calore sollevarsi dall’asfalto, eppure tutto ciò che riusciva a sentire in quel momento, dopo la spiegazione di Kagami circa la telefonata appena ricevuta da Alex, era un gelo intenso che sembrava volergli penetrare fino alle ossa e oltre, senza lasciare spazio a nient’altro.
