Summary

Summary
Vi shook her head as she scrolled, trying to clear the sting of the loss and the twisting, heated memory of Caitlyn’s form against her rattling around in her brain.
It didn’t work.
It never worked.
Vi still remembered their first fight clearly, even years later.
The image of Caitlyn walking into the ring was still fresh in her mind: the shocking blue of her eyes sparking under the bright lights, her body slender, but muscled, her angular face stoic and focused, her mouth a harsh line across her face.
Vi had been worried she was going to snap her in half.
She scoffed as she remembered just how fucking wrong she’d been.
Caitlyn had wiped the floor with her. She’d had to work for it - a change from her other fights, Vi found out later - but she had.
After that, her training regimen was pretty much exclusively focused on beating Caitlyn.
She hated losing.

“The universe, no,” Skye acquiesced, “so these are your terms? I push the button I need to push to give you your gift, and you shoot me?”
“I won’t hesitate,” Caitlyn Kiramman promised.
Skye considered. She wanted to be around to see the gift be received - there was so much science in that to observe - but that wouldn’t be possible if she was shot.
“I accept your terms,” Skye replied, and raced to push the button as Caitlyn Kiramman pulled the trigger.

Vi was found next to a dumpster at 4:51am.
Shimmer was still wracking her body. Her veins wouldn't stop pulsing that eerie, pink-purple hue, a heartbeat that pumped sickness mixed with her blood. She wouldn't stop clenching her left fist - grew angrier whenever someone tried to loosen her grip.
Inside it was Caitlyn’s business card, and so Caitlyn came.
Vi didn't want to be away from her. The sickness in her blood drove her to touch - constant fingertips skating on Caitlyn's skin as doctors told her that Vi was close to an overdose, that Vi needed to be watched, that heat and steam would help quell the sickness in her blood, bring back the Vi that Caitlyn had given the business card to, the Vi that Caitlyn had fallen for.
Caitlyn took her home. There weren't any other options. Not when Vi’s eyes started pulsing with her veins.

Gideon is convinced that if her and Harrow just said "fuck it" and banged it out, the weird tension that exists between them would finally be resolved; so, she created a totally simple, not at all convoluted, multi-step plan to seduce Harrow. It was going really well, too, until Harrow promised to make out with her if she attended their organic chemistry study group each week.
Not that Gideon was complaining about the kissing or anything. It was just now things were getting emotionally messy and their dynamic was slowly but surely developing into something complicated. And she had to read a fucking textbook.
(This is a retelling of my other fic, We Have Chemistry, from Gideon's POV. It contains enough new scenes that it should be interesting to people who have already read WHC and enough repeated scenes that those who haven't read WHC will still be able to enjoy this!)
