Rhod Gilbert didn’t quite smile as he nodded his own greeting. “Well, well, well,” he said, before pronouncing, “Little Alex Horne.”
He punctuated each syllable, so differently than how Greg said it, and something in his tone made the hairs on the back of Alex’s neck stand up. “Really only works when Greg says it,” Alex said, aiming for a joke, though neither man laughed.
“I imagine there’s a lot that only works when Greg says it.”

“Fucking hell,” Greg groans. “I'm dead, aren’t I?”
“No,” Alex says quickly. “Absolutely not.”
“Dying?”
Alex hesitates.
“Fuck,” Greg says again, with feeling. “That’s bloody typical, isn’t it? On my fucking birthday, too. Christ.”
“He’s a little busy right now,” Alex says cheerfully. “You’ll have to do with me.”
Or: On the morning of his 56th birthday, Greg gets hit by a bus. Then, he wakes up. The man who saved his life insists he's utterly unremarkable and tells Greg to forget about him. Greg reckons he'd rather get run over again.

“And where shall we sleep?” he asked Greg, who alone could see the twinkle in Alex’s eye, the slight smirk that sharpened his usual obsequious grin.
There were only so many options, of course, especially ones that weren’t outright filthy, which was still more Greg’s preferred brand of humour than Alex’s, and he took a moment, luxuriating in the pause as he weighed in his options.
In the end, of course, he really only had one simple choice, and that was to trust his partner, in every sense of the word, to land the bit regardless of what he picked. “That,” he said, pitching it as more of a question to drive the joke home.
“Oh,” Alex teased for just a moment before snapping back to business. “It’s bunk beds, always bunk beds,” he said, showing the camera that both cards were in fact printed with ‘Bunkbeds’.

Summary
Alex grips the meat of Greg’s shoulders and squeezes. “Well if you won’t tell me what’s wrong, you can at least let me suck you off while you pull my hair,” he says mildly, and Greg’s dick gives an almighty twitch, as it always does when this ostensibly mild-mannered man comes out with absolute filth. Alex notices, because of course he does, and he gives Greg an angelic gap-toothed smile like the wanker he is.
Greg is having a bad week. Alex helps.
