    For a moment, Benedict sees not his brother but his father’s corpse—swollen at the neck around a bee’s stinger, unseeing eyes puffy and red, covered in hives. Anthony hadn’t wanted any of them to see, but Benedict snuck into the room where the servants had brought in the body whilst Anthony helped the children to bed. There are days when he regrets it and days when he does not. It’s a terrible last memory of his father. It's his last memory of his father.
