Summary
Childe was a soldier first and foremost, but Childe had also been fourteen.
Being fourteen had been painful, had left injuries both visible and not. It was the hidden injuries which cause the most discomfort, He had never minded the scars, they were proof of his victories. Proof that it had been real.
TLDR:Childe wakes up to a pain he is not unused to, but accepting help in his pain is much harder, especially when the intricacies of being in a relationship with an immortal have been weighing on his mind.

Summary
Childe hadn’t realized how close she was, nearly caging Zhongli in against the sofa. She hadn’t realized the heat growing in her own gut. She hadn’t realized the look in Zhongli’s eyes had turned from annoyed grievance to something decidedly different.
(Childe should be angry. She isn’t, not really. Childe should hate her. She doesn’t.)
And what Childe should do here is pull back, half-heartedly apologize, and go beat the shit out of some treasure hoarders to cool off. And then maybe fuck her own hand later, probably while thinking about the way Zhongli looks so pretty underneath her. Like a normal totally-not-in-love-with-her-ex-situationship person would do.
She doesn't, because she's always been terribly, terribly weak.

Childe returns to Liyue after the events of Fontaine, and finds herself face to face with the woman she's definitely not still heartbroken over. She'll swear till her dying days that she really didn't mean to stumble into bed with the Geo Archon.
It's not her fault she's always been bad with talking about her feelings.

With his feelings for Zhongli.
No, she's not proud of it either. The Yuheng isn't the only one adept at blackmail, though, and when Childe pressures her with photographs of the Rex Lapis shrine in her closet, the two find themselves in the pettiest of stalemates.

Childe’s face flames. “That’s—that’s not—” He clears his throat and lowers his voice. “We were talking about dating.”
“So you have done neither,” Zhongli says slowly.
Childe has always been too dedicated to the Tsaritsa to find time for intimacy. Zhongli changes that.
