Mike is rooted to the floor beneath his feet. Head spinning, as he tries to regain his breath. Every single thought he ever had, scatters like a startled flock of birds into the sky.
The tck tck tck of boots—the squealing of sneaker rubber on tiles, bordering on too smooth—was reverberating inside his head. Only amplified by the way in which his heart rate accelerates behind his ribcage.
He feels like slipping, in and out of himself.
Their friend's movement not registering with him, not after his world just got turned belly up.
It had been four words. Just four.
"I don't like girls."
And they change everything.
