Yes, he tries to say again, but he only manages a gasp this time, the word caught in his throat. Somehow, the boy understands anyway, because his lips quirk upwards.
“Then, become a shinigami.” And as the hollow returns to the scene with a roar, Ichigo feels a blade slide between his ribs. Except, it doesn’t hurt. It’s chilly, like the first real touch of winter, the first snowfall of the year. Then, a blinding flash of light.

Summary
The sake stings bitter on his tongue and down his throat; the warmth it leaves in his belly is overwhelming instead of comforting. Satomi is still working desperately to contain his coughs when he feels the warmth and weight of a hand at the back of his neck, squeezing gently.
"Did y’know you blush all the way back here, too?" the man says, and suddenly his voice isn’t so warm and mysterious and unknown. Suddenly, it’s obnoxious. "It’s like a furnace. Real cute."
Before Satomi can stop himself, he’s finally turning to look up at the man, absolutely incredulous, to find him looking down at him with the stupidest smile Satomi has seen in his entire fourteen years of life.
Oka Satomi is married off to a lieutenant of the Matsuribayashi-gumi at fourteen years old. They have differing ideas of how the marriage is supposed to go.
