Summary
The first thing that hits him is the smell. The light, airy scent possessed by the former water ghoul has shifted into something harsh and burnt. A part of his brain sets off alarms at a foreign scent where it shouldn’t be as he tries to focus his eyes on the scene before him.
There’s a small lamp in the far corner of the room, not enough to light up the room, but enough that Rain can make out a shape on the bed. Dew is curled up on his side, back to the door, with his sheets and blankets haphazardly pushed to the floor. Rain stares for a moment, noting the way Dew shifts as he takes deep breaths.
“Just here to watch?” Rain had been about to pull the door shut when a small, raspy voice interrupted him.
He continues standing there for a moment, unsure if he had really heard anything.
