Summary
Carter lives in the deep south in a place people love to call the middle of nowhere. Even though nothing too interesting usually happens, she is content with her group of friends. When she awakens fire abilities she is excited at the possibilities and what she could use it for. However there may be more to these new abilities than she thought.
(Technically based off of the Alex Verus books & world building, but all the characters are OCs so I decided against tagging it as such since it is a small fandom)

Sometimes those memories are gone forever, but sometimes they come back to us, either because something has suddenly reminded us of them, or because you feel as though you're finally in a safe enough place to be able to process them." She reached up to brush his hair back from his face once more. "I imagine you've lived a hard life, maybe there are things your mind is trying to protect you from too."

“Izuku! Get the fuck back here and tell me why I’m getting calls from the school about you destroying another desk!!” Shigaraki screamed, knowing he’d have to come up with yet another disguise just so he could go in and talk to the younger’s teacher. Ugh, Mr. Aizawa was scary.
“It’s not my fault! One minute I was dozi- ahem I mean studying and the next thing I knew the desk just went poof!” The greenet yelled back, running for his literal life as his brother? No that can’t be right…. father?? No that’s not it… ah yes! Gremlin of a guardian chased him around their apartment.
