It seemed like a brilliant plan. Harry and Clara hate that their relationship is all that anyone wants to gossip about, so John does what any good brother would do: he sets himself up to be a bigger item of gossip instead. Surely by announcing that he's dating the one and only openly-gay boy at their school, he'll draw their classmates' attention away from his sister and Clara.
Sherlock Holmes isn't just any bloke, though. He's not surprised that John is bi, he's not interested in what anyone else says, and he's not at all inclined to make himself the center of attention. He's also 100% convinced John is just using him for a role.
He's wrong.
